Oxymorons

Our government is full of oxymorons:

1) We have a Treasury Secretary (Tim Geithner) who didn't pay his taxes
2) A Surgeon General (Dr. Regina M. Benjamin) who is obese
3) A head of Homeland Security (Janet Napolitano) who has vetoed nearly every law intended to secure US borders
4) A leader in Congressional Ethics (Charlie Rangel) who is involved in a massive corruption scandal
5) An Attorney General (Eric Holder) who doesn't read laws he criticizes
6) And finally, the President of the United States (Barack Obama), leader of the most powerful nation in the world, who bows down to every freaking king or banana republic leader, apologizes for our country's actions and then allows 9/11 ideologists to slap us in the face - over and over again.

What is wrong with this picture? Is there no sanity in the world today? Are we living in Bizarro world - where up is down, bad is good, etc?

Folks - Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

Superb older video on money and banking

Since Nixon's evaporation of the gold standard, the US currency has been backed by little more than confidence. Confidence in the people's lack of understanding of the monetary system that is. The federal reserve is not federal, it is privately owned. They can lend multiples of what exists in reserves, under fractional reserve banking. They control the amount of money in circulation, which comes in to existance through loans made to banks and governments. Since the money comes into existance through debt it has to be repaid, but with interest. Therefore the debt is larger than the money supply and inflation, along with defaults and bankruptcy, become permanent problems

Fed can't fix economy

The Federal Reserve has admitted the US recovery has slowed. Gregory White from Business Insider explains this sudden turn in the Fed's outlook and says the real concern right now is deflation, but the Fed's aren't going to come out publically saying that they're worried about this until they have a new QE package ready - and that probably won't happen until November (after the election cycle). White says the US Economy will likely be completely stalled in the mean-time (a terrible predicament where we can't even deal with the unemployment crisis).

Japan: America's Lost Decade

Another great video from Inflation.us: reporting on Japan's "Lost Decade" of deflation and how it relates to the U.S. economy. This video attempts to prove that America is more likely to experience hyperinflation than Japan-like deflation.
