China - Economic Punch to US?

China PLA officers urge economic punch against U.S.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Senior Chinese military officers have proposed that their country boost defense spending, adjust PLA deployments, and possibly sell some U.S. bonds to punish Washington for its latest round of arms sales to Taiwan.

Senior Chinese Military Officers Join Iran In Delivering "Punch" To U.S., Propose Selling Treasuries As Arms Sales Punishment

And you were worried about Iran. China's People Liberation Army has come out and openly said that the nuclear option, i.e., selling US Treasuries, is now on the table and should be exercised as "punishment" for U.S.' arms sales to Taiwan. China undoubtedly realizes that this is a prime example of sado-masochism as the resultant plunge in Treasuries that would follow would hurt the US certainly, but also have a "mild to quite mild" impact on China's $700 (and likely much greater) UST holdings. Game theory 101 just got interesting.

It's hard to decide which administartion is dumber, this one or the previous. The Bush adminstration tried to bully Russia by ordering its Georgian puppet Sakashvili to cleanse South Ossetia of its Russian civilians to destroy its separatist movement, so that Goergia might be accepted into NATO. In its arrogance, the Bush administration thought that Russia would accept the act of US hegemony, but the Russian army drove the half-traiined Georgian troops back. Having failed with weapons, the Bush administration and it's captive media tried to lie and say that Russia started the conflict.
The US is now trying to again bully Russia by placing missiles in Poland and Romania.

Now it's trying to bully China by selling arms to its rival.

What do you expect China to do? It has already stopped puchasing our debt. Last year, they bought only 150 billion in Treasury bonds. The US had to print money to finance 91% of its debt. Do you really think it will tolerate America's bullying when we have placed so much financial power in its hands thru our stupid "free trade" policies of the last 20 years?

And I am not worried about Iran, as there is no evidence that they have viotated any part of the non-proliferation treaty that they signed. In a 2007 NIE report all 16 US intelligence agencies had said that Iran had abandoned its nuclear weapons program in 2003, if it ever had one. And the International Atomic Enrgy Agency has repeatedly inspected Iran and found no evidence of a nuclear weapons program. Only people who believe the government's propaganda are worried.

Compare Iran's crimes to those of America and its "ally" Israel.

In the last 70 years, we have commited war crimes against Japenese and German civilians in WW2, Vietnamese civilains during the Vietname war, attacked Iraq and Afganistan, and now Pakistan and Yemen. The CIA has staged coups to get rid of democratically elected leaders in Haiti(2003) and Iran(1953), among others. And Israel continues to oppress Palestinians and recently attacked Lebanon and Syria (with US blessing).

In contrast Iran has attacked and oppressed noone in the last 1000 years. Yet they are the bad guys and the US and Israel are the good guys. What a sick joke!

Michael, you said "In contrast Iran has attacked and oppressed noone in the last 1000 years. Yet they are the bad guys and the US and Israel are the good guys. What a sick joke!"

Yeah, I guess if you don't count oppression of your own people there's nothing wrong with your statement.

And BTW, at least Israel contributes to society with technology, medicine, art, etc. What do the sand nigger Palestinians contribute? . . . Nothing!

Anonymous,

Iran certainly has violated human rights by shooting at some protesters during last year's elections. But is this any better than what our government did at Waco and Ruby Ridge? At the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh last year, martial law was declared on peaceful protestors. Apperently, the righs of global bankers are more important than the right of Americans to peacefully protest. Most Americans don't realize it, but our civil liberties are alresy gone. They only thing we have left to protect us is the 2nd Amendment. The gov't is now closing down gun shows in TX, AR, and CA. PC Roberts has written a good column on how Americans have lost the protection of the law.

How much do you expect "sand niggers" to invent when thay live under a brutal occupation, cut off from jobs, farmland, food, water, hospitals, education, and other villages? Not exactly an environment for people to flourish in. I never denied the Jews' intelligence, but that does not excuse Israel from the crimes they have committed and thier repeated violation of international law.

This the retaliation for the fact that the US wants to sell arms to Taiwan. The US is - IMO - DELIBERATELY ratching up tensions.
